Use your own SD (Self Bond)

Amount of SD for self bond​

To get the amount of SD bond you can:

  • Check the CLI prompt. It will provide you with the minimum and the maximum amount of SD bond required for the number of validators you wish to create. OR
  • Manually calculate 0.4ETH worth of SD amount per validator. OR
  • Install Grafana dashboard and get the 10% SD bond amount per validator. You can install the dashboard by following the steps provided in the Node Monitoring section.

SD Deposit​

Once the amount is entered, provide the required gas fee and confirmation for SD and ETH deposit both, and that's it! The validator will be created and added to your node.

What next?​

  • We will first deposit 1 ETH and wait for the deposit to be successful. Only 1 ETH is deposited first instead of 4 ETH to avoid front-running of the withdraw credentials. It take 16-24 hours for the 1 ETH to be successfully deposited on the beacon chain
  • Once the 1 ETH deposit is successful we will wait for the pre-sign message to be received. This can take a maximum of 24 hours.
  • Once the pre-sign message is received and verified we will deposit the remaining 31 ETH bond for your validator to become active on the beacon chain. After this, your validator will be in the activation queue on the Beacon chain. Activation time on the beacon chain depends on the the size of the activation queue.
